The GEWEKE CARING FOR WOMEN FOUNDATION

We appreciate the continued support and dedication that the community has given to Pink October. It is because of you that we’re able to make a difference in the lives of local women. Pink October started 13 years ago as a single 5K Race for Awareness. It has grown into 6 events (5 of which are in October), Health Screening Days, and low-cost mammograms throughout the month provided by Sutter Medical Foundation, Fremont Rideout Health Group, Sutter Buttes Imaging, Peach Tree Healthcare, and Denim Wednesdays.

We are so proud of the awareness that is raised and the lives that are touched by Pink October. All money raised through Pink October events goes to the Geweke’s Caring for Women Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to help local breast cancer patients with their financial hardships. The foundation has helped pay for utilities, rent and mortgages, even funeral expenses. Since the start of the foundation in November of 2006, over 190 women have been helped.
